Projects that qualify?
Many residential project types qualify for 45L tax credits:

- Single-Family Homes: $2,500 available for homes certified to eligible ENERGY STAR Single-Family New Home (SFNH) program requirements.
- Manufactured Homes: $2,500 available for homes certified to eligible ENERGY STAR Manufactured New Home (MH) program requirements.
- Multifamily Homes: $500 available for homes certified to eligible ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction (MFNC) program requirements, with a larger tax credit ($2,500) available when prevailing wage requirements are met.
- Zero Energy Ready Homes: Larger tax credits are available for homes certified to the Department of Energy's Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) Program.

45L tax credit basics
The Energy Star 45L tax credit is a federal incentive designed to encourage the construction of energy-efficient homes. Here are the key points:

- Eligible Homes: Single-family, multifamily, and manufactured homes can qualify.
- Energy Savings Requirements: Homes must meet specified energy savings requirements and be certified to an eligible version of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR Residential New Construction program requirements or the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Zero Energy Ready Homes program.
- Eligible Contractors: The homes must be constructed by an eligible contractor.
- Acquisition Date: The home must be acquired by a person from the eligible contractor after December 31, 2022, and before January 1, 2033, for use as a residence during the taxable year for which the taxpayer is claiming the § 45L Tax Credit.
- Certification: Certification to an eligible version of the ENERGY STAR program requirements is required.
